5/04-02 Dear Fellow Residents, Today marks the 50th day since the Luzon-wide community quarantine began. Since then, the Valle Verde 5 community has been steadfast in working together to weather through and overcome the pandemic. The outpouring of support and volunteerism in this community makes all of us proud to be a part of this Village. Despite the sudden onset of this quarantine and the challenges at the start, I am happy to announce that we have been able to achieve the following: * Provide guidelines that adjust to the needs of our community as situations arise. While not perfect, the community has responded generally in a positive and supportive manner. * Provide full meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and more) to all our guards and staff, through efforts of the resident volunteers of the VV5 Food Brigade since the very beginning. * Provide care for those who are unable to purchase their essential needs through our VV5 Love 2 Seniors volunteer group. * Provide 10,000 individually cooked meals for income-impaired and frontliner residents of Barangays Ugong and Rosario. This program is still ongoing until May 15, through our very own Project Feed 600 as well as cooked food donations by some of our residents. By May 15, we expect to have provided over 14,000 cooked meals altogether. * Generate a volunteer group that is active and responsive to the needs of our residents, encompassing supplier coordination of bulk orders and house to house delivery of essential items. * Grow a thriving Viber community for discourse and trade that is able to connect our residents, ironically even better than before the ECQ. Incidentally, the trade activities has helped various workers (e.g. delivery men, farm & fish providers) and home industries in this difficult period. There are too many names to thank and in due time we shall acknowledge them, but know that we are in a community that not only survives, but thrives. History will look back on this period as a dark era for mankind. That our community not only thrived but crafted more ways and means of Community spirit under this environment is a testament to our resilience. The Board of Directors and the Administration join me in thanking you for your continued trust and cooperation. Yours sincerely, Eli Santiago
